Can anyone explain this odd spacing where the front clip meets the door? The gap is identical on each side. Is this just an example of poor assembly or could there be something more serious going on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Bryan,
I agree.
From the picture the door looks low. You can see the 'feature line' at the middle of the door doesn't match the line in the front fender. They matched originally and still should be able to.
I think... hinge issue.

Alan
If I had to guess, I would say the door is low, and may have been off the car and/or repaired. The other possibility is that the front clip was replaced and/or repaired and not positioned correctly when it was bonded on.
Thanks for the responses. I'm thinking the front clip may
have been off because both sides look identicle. Hard to
imagine Botha doors belong equally low.

Open the doors, and lift at the rear to see if there's any up & down movement. The hinge bushings could be shot as well as the hinges being out of alignment.

I think the tip off here is that the bottom of the front fender does not line up with the rocker panel. If the front clip or front fenders were removed and replaced, part of the critical alignment is along the bottom of the front fender, using the mounted rocker panel as a guide. It appears that the fender is too high.
