Hey guys, just wanted to know where exactly the fusible links where located on a 74'. Pics would be appreciated. I can't find these things for the life of me. Talking about the ones on the alternator and by the lights I believe? Pics of them would also be appreciated! Thanks guys.
There are 2 right down close to the starter- there are 3 wires connected to the battery terminal on the solenoid- the battery cable, and 2 smaller (10 ga) wires. The fusible links will be within the first 12 inches of those wires- I don't recall any others.
There is an orange one up around (just below) the wiper motor and there is one (or two) over by the horn relay under the left front fender. You can spot them (GM originals, anyway) by the little black potted cylinders at the end connections on the fuse-links.
What do you have electrically thats NOT working. This will help us direct you to the ones you need to check.
(The orange ones 7T1 referred to are for the ammeter.)
Ok I see, in response to what's not working, when the key is turned the alternator does nothing. Its been awhile since I worked on it but I believe I did have power to other things in the car but not the alternator.
I wanted to check the easier things such as the fusible links first before rushing out and buying a new alternator. Any other suggestions are welcome.
(Just started to get back into working on car, its kinda my summer hobby. That being said, please excuse my ignorance its been awhile!)

Are you saying you don't have power to the red wires on the back of the alternator or that the alternator isn't putting out ?
If you where to try and turn it over the alternator makes no sound. If I'm not getting power to red wire, would this be a fusible link issue? Or if I was and still no output from the alternator would that then be the alternator or the solenoid?

I have the same problem and hoping for an answer. The two wire plug one red the other brown on top of the alternator, the red wire is hot.The single red wire on the back of the alternator is dead. While pulling the alternator to change out the power steering pump a very quick short happened, alternator hasnt worked since.
That "quick short" blew the alternator diode set. Disassemble to change out the diode pack or replace the alternator. (This is why many of us install a battery disconnect.)

What year ?
Both the reds at the alt come from the same source,if 1 is hot the other should be also.
If both are dead you most likely popped a fusible link.
I closed the door {slammed it kinda hard} on my 1993 anniversary edition one day and lost all power? I got around to checking battery, completely dead. I am going to install a new today or tomorrow. but if isn't the battery, where should I look 1st? I know there are fusible links and maybe inline fuses?

Might want to post to C4 forums, this is for C3. But, id say it's likely the battery and maybe your alternator if your battery is that dead right after driving. Check the alternator lug and make sure it's tight on the positive lead.
