Ok not sure if I post it here anyone can help but I bought a 73 vette here off a member around 12/09 to 2/10. Can't remember his name and all my info was lost on my old PC. I am hoping to get back in touch with him and it has to do with my own fault. I think the guys name was Mike and I know he lived in Michigan. Take a look at the car and hopefully someone will say hey I know that guy! Just need to ask him to do me a favor.
Strange things are happening here. The Forum used to be pretty straight-forward.
I'm going to guess that LayZ MEANT he bought it between 12/08 and 2/09 and just made a typo in the OP. With that change, the timeline and story make sense.
Yes I bought the car then, I have had it and have been working on it. Then I lost my den because of a new baby. When I moved out of the room, I though I had all my important papers in a box, then put it in the attic. Now that I have decided that I do not have time for it anymore, no sence in it taking up space, so I was going to DMV to title it in my name. Can't find the title now, hence my mistake/ stupidity. It would be eaiser to contact the the original seller to get a dupe title. If I can't, I have to get a lawyer to basicly do the leg work and it is going to cost me three times as much. If I could just get back in touch with the seller it would save me time and money. Carfax does not go back far enough for me to run the vin either.
geesh this is not the off topic section ya know...
You can try to find the prior owner's name and address at the BMV in the state where the previous owner lives. If that doesn't work and you can't find contact info here, you are basically out-of-luck.
[I'm still trying to figure out how you "lose" a title and prior owner info on a car you just bought... ]
Not that I'd know anything about this... But I once heard a guy in a bar talking about a tow company that would put a lien on a car and procure a title for a small fee.
Might be a path of last resort if you can't find the paperwork or the seller.
