'72 wiw
Its time to part with my '72 Vette, I haven't been paying attention to the market in a while and I don't have a good idea of what mine would sell for.
It has:
Base 350 K car
Original motor, tranny, rearend
T-tops
Color - War Bonnett Yellow
Black Leather Interior
63k miles
4 speed
I posted some pics on photobucket
I've only put a few hundred miles on it over last 15 years I've owned it. It has spent most of its life in a garage. Other than keeping it running and in good mechanical shape I haven't done anything to the car. At somepoint before I got the car, someone did some work under the hood.
Hooker headers
Edlebrock intake
Mickey Thompson covers (don't know what is underneath)
Holley Carb
The car runs great, it is mechanically sound. It could use a minor restoration, it hasn't been run much in the last 5 years. On the NADA guide I would put this at average which would put this at $36k. I know that is not what these cars are going for, but I do see similar ones advertised for $32-$34, and a quick look at ebay doesn't seem that many of these are going for over $30k. Most look like they go for around $24-28k.
I do have a lot of the original parts:
the steel wheels
trim rings and caps
tail lights
exhaust manifolds
What do you think it is worth?

You have most of the parts to return it to stock condition, except for that hood and tail-panel, which will cost to have returned to original condition. Figure a hood, exhaust system, and paintwork; I don't think you'd recoup that cost when you went to sell it. Unless a potential buyer likes those custom touches, then he or she will be calculating how much it would cost to do that work, and subtracting it from the market-price of $16k-$20k.
I'd say list it as a mild 70's-style custom in your ad, and put it for $16k if you want to get interest right away, or $18k if you can wait for a while, but be willing to take $2k less. You might get lucky and find a buyer who does like those touches, and be willing to pay your asking-price, but that depends entirely on individual taste.
I agree with FD and Bob. $10,000 to $12,000.
There are quite a few things a person looking for an original appearing car will have to change, so the car's attractive to someone looking for a modified appearing car.

with the above. It looks like a late 70s custom. Not much appeal for that type of custom. Looks like a decent driver but no more than 12K at tops.
