Montana allows vintage plates for cars that are solely used as collectors cars not for general transportation. I have thought about getting one and wonder what the exact rules are.
Flat HD - for those who don't know I live on the Flathead Indian Reservation.
May be accused of hijacking this thread but this question is related to license plates. How many here choose a plate the vintage of their Vette instead of a "vanity" plate? I looked long and hard at swap meets and finally found a pair of unrestored but excellent plates of the era of my '69 coupe. Licensing it here in WA as a collector vehicle allows me to run those plates. They are a totally different color than the later and current plates.
It is my understanding that some states do not allow the use of outdated plates under any circumstances. If vehicle is bone stock in appearance I think era plates are great.
And Andrea probably would not even consider FLAT HD.

No one caught me or if they did they didnt mention it....my 69 runs a vintage plate with generic number...the "13bats" is from a real plate but non vintage..the picture is a photoshop..I was selling off all my junk and put the 69 in my dads name for the moment at 85 the insurence is good...lol
He got the vintage plate for me,
When I swap the car into my name I am hoping I can get the vintage plate with the "13bats" vanity on it, because the fl oranges look silly to me,
As far as era correct plates, not trying to offend at all but I would think that is more of a ncrs stock crowd thing where vanity plates are more for the "hey look at me" out of the flock crowd...I might be way off on that one,
I am native american too...my great gmother was 100% so I am a bit thinned down,
Every old car I've owned has had a vanity plate, but every time it's been something about the car. My current is 79 L-82. My previous car was 1981 Z28, so I don't think I'd get accused of being self centered with my plates.
I remember seeing "IDOXLR8" in an old issue of Car Craft...!
(I do accelerate)
I remember that one.
I was thinking of getting a vanity plate but they make it easier for people to remember your license number when they see it at a glance so that holds me back although my husband says when I paint it hot pink I'll be the only Corvette in town that colour and there will be no pretending someone else did it anyway.
My '69 is not an NCRS car, nor is it an off frame restoration. It is, however, totally stock except for Center Line Autodrag wheels w/ BFG T/A's and those will be coming off soon in favor of the original rally wheels and trim. It has been well maintained and has a ten year old high end paint job.
But, I still like running the original plates from the era. I enjoy reading vanity plates but just never was into them myself.
Here's one for you to interpret: CUNJL I won't give you a hint because it is pretty easy.
Thanks for all the input everybody. Montana doesn't have a name search website so I have to call every time I think of something. Very annoying. FLYNLOW is taken, another one i like is LVS2FLY and is available.
I had "SBSONIC", "LNDSHRK", "HOCTAIN" on the 1973 when I lived in Florida. I'd get bored with one and order another. Now I prefere the Year of Manufacture plates. Must have been a phase.
Mine is QQ80CRVT (QQ indicating an historic vehicle in NJ).
I've seen several that always make me smile, including SUM VET, ILUVETT, UR2SLOW, 400 HP and 5 MPG (saw yours in Smithville JW3101).
But my suggestion is doing something with your year. 69 RAY, 69 VETT, 6T9 RAY, 6T9 VET, SIXT9VT, or any other variation that lets a non-vette owner know your year.
Again these suggestions that we give you are just that, suggestions. I didn't figure out your vanity tag suggestion and I consider myself an expert tag interpreter (if there is such a thing). However, the decision is yours regardless of what we suggest.
The previous owner of mine had "SEMEFLY". That might work for you.
How about "OLSKOOL" of course for "Old School".
Also a friend uses "NOSKY2HI", he is an ex Airborne Ranger. In your case it could reference the Flying and/or to you acheving any goal you set forth (like owning a classic Vette).
Good luck and like the rest said, Let us know what you pick!

You can always get a custom one with your vette and anything you like for the front. If your state doesnt require front plates.
avitar is a tag.

A guy I used to work with tried to get FINE 69 for his 69 Charger and they told him he couldn't put 69 on it because it had sexual connotations.
Im a big computer/xbox gamer when im not outside with the cars and 1337 is a silly internet term gamers use in place of the word elite. I just think it'd be kind of funny and I like it that most people wont get it.
I am thinking of using LKNOTCH for my plates. Is it obvious what it means? I like it for the fact that it's for a girl's car. Appreciate any feedback or other cool plate ideas. Thanks, Andrea
