interior light problem

The interior bulbs have power to them 24-7 on the orange wire. The white wire is the ground wire that turns them on and off and the wire that grounds at the door jamb switches- so the white wire is grounding somewhere. The white wire goes to every int light bulb so it could be grounding anywhere along the white wire. Do you have a bulb in between the T tops ? I have found on occasion the white wire contact rubbing the T frame and grounding. The white wire also goes to the HL switch. This circuit can be a PITA to diagnose. First thing I would do is very carefully remove both door jamb switches and see if they shut off.

thanks ROGER. i just found problem. its in the switch in the jamb as you said. the button in the door jamb is screwed into a plastic nut that also holds wire. its stripped and loose . awhen it moves its causing lights to on and off. any idea where to get this part? there is a junkyard near me. i wonder if its the same on all old chevys.
