Looks like I have to be a big boy & face the innevatable. Time to sell the Cherry Bomb. I have no clue as to what this thing is worth on the market, I only know to me it.s worth 20K +. Unrealistic in todays market??? but help a Guy out, what's realistic today?? I'd like to kick this around as to get a base opinion before posting or advertising it for sale. See album for pics. 56K on car & 3-4K on pro built engine (383 stroker, dyno'd 460 hp before tuning), trans, RR end, heck everything.

Heavily modified NOM '78? If you really want honest feedback, then yes, $20k is unrealistic. There's always the chance you could hit that one buyer who has your exact taste and doesn't know anything about the market, but these cars in modified form sit a long, long time before selling.
I think you could very well get closer to your target in parting out the pricey speed stuff.

Yep, prolly what I'll end up doing as the parts will bring more money than the car. Its a shame these beautiful cars just dont pull much money. My buddy just sold his 71 modified El Camino for $18K but an even a nicer C3 will only bring 10-14K. I had 2 offers so far locally, one for 8K & one for 10.5K when I tried to get up near 14-15K they both laughed and have never been heard from again. It's just a shame that these things arent worth much, even to a Vette nut unless it's a steel bumper convertable with numbers matching big block & A/C. Seems the C3's are just the lame duck and arent worth much more than 10K in todays market no matter what it is. Oh well, I've made bigger mistakes throwing money away, ask my ex wife. . Time to start disassembling the "Bomb".
I would not part that car out. It is too well done albeit modified somewhat. I would suggest asking $17,000 and falling back if need be to $16,000. The market is so fickle now that that is just a guess from someone who does watch the market however fluid it is.

Very nice car, it may take a bit of time before you find the right buyer but they are out there. The only suggestion to get a little more out of the car would be to sell the stroker and put in a crate 350. It might not be worth the extra $2000 - $3000 you get out of it. Sorry to say that is what happens when you start to mod a car - you'll never get your money out of it (in spite of what you see on some of the tv shows )
that is a real nice car, don't part it out, you have shown it so far with great pics, add some more pics of frame and other normal wear points to show it to be as nice as it sounds and someone will buy it... put together a nice ad with more pics and lengthy description. don't just try to sell it here on the forum, put it in some national publications, and ebay to get more exposure.
start at 20K and just wait, you will get offers below your minimum, but sit back and wait.
someone with money ( even if across the ocean ) will salivate at this one..
Thanks for all the input Guys. My frustration doesnt really stem from only my car but the C3's in general not pulling much cash. I've seen clean silver anniversays & Pace Cars having trouble getting good coin. It just seems odd. I know there were alot of them made but there were also alot of Camaros made & they seem to be very popular in the resale game. Go figure. I will put together a nice, lengthy, detailed add with enough pics to choke a horse & see what happens. I am far from desperate right now but things in my life are changing & I'd like to get a jump on the situation. Long story.................
Regarding the over seas sale?? I'd be open to this if not eager but I am not knowledgable to this type of transaction.

If you have the time this is what I would do. Too nice to part out.
Do you have to sell it? Just curious, as that is definitely a labor of love and an awesome car.
I just put a deposit on a 383 stroker, MSD setup, HP Edelbrock carb, etc. Won't be as much HP as yours, but over 400 for sure.
Poppa Bud mentioned putting a 350 back in it. I'm keeping my original L48, but would I need to change out the engines if I ever sell it or do most C3 buyers just take the old engine along with the car?
Good luck on the sale. Someone is going to get a great deal on the Cherry Bomb!
Sorry to hear you want to sell your car! I have seen this car in person and the pictures do not do it justice. Do not part it out!!! it is much too nice.
Posts like this are really discouraging to me. I am beginning to regret swapping my 55 Chevy for these Vettes. I have nearly 10K in mine (w the fresh 596 dynoed HP BBC) and it is not even running driving, stopping or painted. I figure another 8-9K b4 its even near show ready and I do almost all of my own work....except upholstery and finish paint. On an amateur built car that will almost certainly pull in the neighbor hood of 7-10K at sale time The car ***** in me SCEAMS "What the H--l are you doing?!" If and when it comes time. I am pulling the BBC and installing a strong but nearly stock 350. (I have a near a dozen 4 bolt main builder cores sitting around here) and putting stock sized rubber back on. Modified Vettes, heavily modified in particular are a labor of love. But you better be ready to take it in the rear at sale time from what I've seen watching Vette sales online. NICE car but if it was me I'd sell it overseas or strip it and reassemble it to near stock configuration. That why I am keeping all the factory parts like the original pollution crap + '75 hood I remove and I will be going very conservative on non removalable parts like spoilers, scoops ,interior mods and such. Although the hotrodder in me screams to customize the heck out of this thing. I learned long ago that while I WANT to do somethings to a car. The reality is that sooner or later I WILL sell whatever it is I am building. The bottom line is hard to face, but MUST be considered.
