It's a 1970. The engine is out. The interior passenger dash boards, etc is out. Since it's a 70, I have the louvers behind the front wheels out so I have relatively more access to the AC stuff. Just removing the AC blower motor looks like a problem since some of the screws are out of sight. I've pulled the carpet back on the interior and can see some of the screws that bolt the air conditioner plenum in. For now, I'm just going to have to blindly just start unbolting things. Any suggestions? Thanks
If memory serves me correctly, to remove the outer box (engine side) all bolts except one are removed from the engine compt side. There is one that removes from the interior, on my 69 it was the lowest corner next to engine. I did check *** Manual and kind of remember that was correct.
Purchase the assembly instruction manual (AIM) and take a look at the diagrams for the factory installation. If memory serves, for AC cars the heater box inside has to come out before the under hood side.

Mike, not sure about that, mine came out without the inside being removed, but I had to take the engine out to get mine out (427). I think the inside box has the J nuts on them and the screws go into it from the outside. But like I said there is one (at least on my 69) that is reversed and comes out from the inside. Once the outer box is out, the box is then two pieces, bolted together.
I will double check all my ppieces laying around to verify, but I do know my inner box is still inside.
AIM (69) shows inner box with studs that protrude through firewall and the outer box is secured by nuts on those studs. I did see at least one area that a bolt/screw goes from eng compt into interior, it was down around the blower area. AND WE ALL KNOW THE AIM DOES NOT LIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
