I have been looking at some C3's 70 and 71 only and noticed some have a key lock at the back above the CORVETTE letters and some don't. Are they both correct? If so, what is the lock for?
probably nothing will happen, its 40 years old, your horn, harness, switches, etc.. need to be in pretty good shape.. but the theory is that if you open a door, or the hood with the alarm engaged then the horn just behind your left rear wheelwell will go off.. also it might be linked to your ignition switch.. would have to study the wiring diagram to know....

The alarm must be armed (on), then a door or the hood has to be opened.
If it doesn't work... I popped mine out of the car first, then sprayed a little contact cleaner into the lock and work it back and forth...worked for me.
