I find the "stock recommendation 225 70-15" to be just a little too tall and a little too narrow. I have them on my 72 smallblock.

Is anyone running 245 60-15's?

I am thinking those would do well on the 74 BB......

Suggestions.......

I run the 245's on my '72 and on my car they are about perfect. They barely brush the front frame on full lock and the rear emer cable barely clears the sidewall. I think a 255 would be troublesome on my '72 while some '72's can run the 255's. I don't feel like wiring the emer cable over for clearance. Your '74 body will sit a little higher than the '72.

I've got a set on my '71 right now, but am replacing them due to age (even though they have plenty of tread). I found it difficult to find tires in that size to replace them.

There are the BFG T/A's, but beyond that, there are very few options.

I ended up buying some Uniroyal Tiger Paw GTS's, which have been discontinued.

There were Cooper Cobra GT's, Mickey Thompson S/T's, and Mastercraft tires in that size, which are all from the same company, though the MT's had a different tread-pattern.

There are some incredibly-sticky Avon tires produced for the vintage racing market, at about double or triple the cost of the other tires.

A lot greater selection in the 235 and 255 sizes, but as you note, the 245 fills out the wheelwells perfectly, and doesn't face the possibility of rubbing that some earlier C3's have with the 255's.

235R60-15s will fit a '72 just fine. 245's will rub on some '72 front ends. Go with what works for you.

Yokohama 235-60-15 is what I have on my '73 ( 295-50-15 rear ) and they fit like a glove.
I'm not sure I could have used 245 without some little issues.

On mine ('75) the 245's did not fill the wheel well as I like. Lowering would probably have taken it closer but from what I hear, any lowering requires you to be VERY concervative F+B like 1.5"- 2" max. I installed 255 60 15's on the front stock rallys yesterday, but cannot say yet if they rub as I have the motor out right now.
I put the 255's on the back and again there was way too much air between the tire and fender lip (like 6-7") so I am going w 275 60 15's out back. Tho IF I find out that the back can be lowered that much I'll put on 255's there as well.

I have a '77 with stock 225-70-15 all around and would like to replace them because of age, does anyone think this would be a good fit on this car?

My 71 sb ragtop has stock suspension & ralleys.

Installed 4 new JETZON Revenger G/T P245/60R15 RWL radials early summer 2009. Produced by cooper; seems same tire as cooper cobra. These are USA. This not a race car but I do drive it w/ vigor & am quite pleased w/ look, feel & wear of these tires. Have bought internet tires before ... Searched for this app too ... ended up buying these close by my home from a "Farm Bureau" dealer. $300/4; "farm use" no sales tax, carry out. Most states have a "farm bureau" dealer nearby ... they sell major brands & insurance too ... check your web.

Several thousand miles ... I would buy these again. FYI, when I checked over a year ago, the next size up 255 in very same tire was Not USA.
