Does anyone know if the plastic seatbelt covers fit over the carpet on the floor or does the carpet cover the plastic cover? Also,do the seat tracks mount over the carpet?
1. plastic covers...
there should be no carpeting under the covers. You will need to do some triming etc...
2. seat tracks...
the front end of each track needs to sit on the fiberglass without any carpet under them. The carpet should be cut so that a flap (no wider than the track end) can cover each of the bolts. The flap will be about a 1.25" wide x 1.50ish long.
The rear ends - in my opinion - should have no carpet under them as well - but do not need to have a flap like the front ends do.
It's best not to have any carpeting between the seat rails and the mounting surface. The 'carpet flap' method is the best way to get that done (same as factory method). The AIM shows how that should be done.
Hi 727,
Here are a couple of pictures of me setting up to cut the flaps that 72 and 7T1 described. These are from my 71.
The original padding was die-cut so there would be no padding under the track mount points (front or rear). But in 71 the rear of the tracks did sit on top of the carpet; I'm not sure about 72 cars.

Alan
