2 questions.............
The carburator on my 1981 has a nipple at the top of the carb in the back( facing window) I am sure it"s for vacuum. Does anyone know where it gets hooked to? Also, I am starting it for the first time with new crate motor is 2 gallons of gas enough to get it started?

I believe the nipple in question is for the hot air choke to draw filtered air. If you aren't using the hot air choke, you can plug it so unfiltered air doesn't get sucked into the carb.

No, no, no!
Two gallons will barely fill the fuel bowl in the carburettor! It IS a Corvette, don't forget!!!

Guys,
Thanks a million. I'll plug the nipple and get more gas. Thanks again. Have a great week.

...Richard, I would strongly suggest "priming" the engine oil system first if you haven't already. Probably the absolute most important thing you could do before starting an engine for the first time.

Paul,
Hello there and how are you doing? Yes, I used the old distributor to prime the motor a few times.

....Richard, doing great, thinned down my herd a little. Sold the Silver '75 coupe & the Silver '68 coupe. Don't have time for everything.
...took the Orange '74 out of 18mos storage and have already put 600mi on her this year alone. Been driving the Blue '68 convertible a bit too.
