Default Headlight override switch mounting question

Hello...

I'm trying to figure out how the headlight override switch mounts under the dash... Took it off a couple of years ago and can't remember how it goes back... specifically the bracket that the switch mounts to.

There is a cover that mounts under the steering column, it has one screw that screws to the steering column. The other 2 screws appear to screw into the headlight override switch bracket but that doesn't seem to be correct (or strong enough for that matter!)... It's like those 2 screws don't have anything to screw in to...

Thanks,
Tab

The assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows how the bracket mounts. On my '68, the bracket catches the two column trim screws.

Hi Tab,
The two screws go through the coluum trim piece, then through the over-ride switch bracket, and finally into 2 clips that are moulded into the bottom of the driver's-side dash pad. The 2 screws do firm everything up.
As Mike said, the info is in the AIM.
Regards,
Alan

Thanks Alan, I don't have the AIM but it appears that those 2 clips that are moulded into the bottom of the dash pad are long gone. I guess I will be careful when pulling on that switch. I really never use that anyway.........

Thanks,
Tab
