Question about wiper door trim
Hello,
I have 2 different styles of wiper door trim and was wondering which one is correct for 1969
One has holes for a screw on the edges and the other does not. The door does have the holes, so I think I know the answer, but wanted to check with the experts anyway

My advice would be to check the '69 assembly instruction manual (AIM) and see what it lists. Check for a possible running change in the trim.

The one without a hole is a 68, the other one is 69-72. I think a rivet was used in each though, not a screw.

My 69 door has the hole on the end with trim to match.

Definitely a rivet.
I took mine apart a few months ago.
Ordered new rivets from Corvette Central.

Thanks, that's what I thought. I bought a bunch of parts from a 68 and the wiper door was one of them, but it's been a while since, and now i'm at that point to paint and install it.
Good to know on the rivets, i thought it was a screw, now I know

I tend to agree. I'm thinking my '68 does not have the holes. Was wondering whether these may have been continued into early '69 production.

The trim piece with no holes for a fastener is for a 68. The one with holes is 69 and up.
If you look at the wiper doors for a 68 and a 69, this will be apparent. The 69 is drilled for the rivet, plus it has a little more "meat" in the door casting were the hole is drilled. I'm currently using a 68 door on my 70 with a 70 trim piece. I just left out the rivet. There's no really enough metal in the 68 door to accomodate a drilled hole to accomodate the rivet.
My 68 has both the 68 door and 68 trim piece.

Hi,
I believe that when the hole first appeared a 'drive' rivit was used and then in 71 (?) a tiny flat headed screw appeared.
Regards,
Alan

My original '72 still has the screws ... VERY small screws not rivits.

My '71 (12/70 build) has a small Phillips-drive flat-head sheet metal screw at each end.
