Default What a shame

Driving on the way to register my 75', I saw this C3 sitting in this guy's lawn. Along with this car were several other cars and various other pieces , all in various states of dis-repair. I stopped for a look on the way back through. The car in fact does have recent tags on it, and is registered through 2011. But as you can see from the fact that it's been mowed around, it hasn't gone anywhere in a while. It's a 68' 4-speed with the 327? I assume. The exterior paint is chipping away and some emblems are missing. The interior is not bad actually, floor pans look like they need replacing. Having said this, the car is not for sale, to my knowledge, but I just thought it was a shame to see it out there sitting in the rain. What would a 68' vert (seems pretty standard) go for in good condition?

I believe a 427 would have the L88 hood, that's why I'm assuming it's a 327.

Thats going to be a waste of a nice car hopefully someone saves it. By the way I believe its a 69 as it has Stingray emblems.

Hi,
Too Bad!
The doors, wheels, and back-up lights say 68. 73+ hood to eliminate the wiper door.
Sitting on that grass and dirt will be hard on it!
Regards,
Alan

First that caught my eye is wrong hood etc...

I cant comment about where that car is but here in Florida park a car in the weeds for very long at all and it will rust fast....

@Alan 71: interesting observation about the hood, I didn't realize that.

@The13Bats: Upstate New York, rust's year round home!

Probably one of those deals where it quit running so they just pushed it off to the side..... Bummer, looks like it could be in decent shape......

My theory - Don't crush them - restore them.

Wrong hood (common mod), Stingray emblems on a 68- WRONG, and gill inserts, also a 69 thing. All in all, a shame to be sitting outside like that.

'68 with 69 Stingray scripts and louver trim. Folding top looks to be a fairly recent replacement.

I guess I thought it was a bad omen to be wanting another Vette after just buying my first . But,this one was parked like 5 feet off of the sidewalk, so I didn't feel like I was intruding that much. Maybe I'll go back and stop by, although we seem to have a bit of a mystery car on our hands.
