The 68 ran fine last fall and a couple months this year. About a month ago I tried to start it and the battery was dead. (I shrugged this off as jealousy because of an 08 coupe in the garage ) I charged the battery and drove it and all was fine.
I tried to drive it a couple days ago and the battery is dead again. I disconnected the - terminal on the battery and charged it , when I reconnected it there was a "sizzle" of sparks. I disconnected the alternator thinking it might be the problem but it still sizzled. I checked for lights (I don't think I've ever driven in the dark ) but everything seems ok. Ever seen a problem with the starter solenoid doing something like this?

Any suggestions welcome.
Start by pulling the fuses one at a time and touching the battery terminal on until you find the bad circuit. If not in any of the fused circuits, start looking at all of your live wires for something touching and shorting. If nothing was disturbed by working on the car and it just showed up, it could be a wire fell on the hot exhausts somewhere and shorted. It could be just an internal short in the battery itself. It just takes some time to trace it down.
