Default New Vette Owner

Hi,
I am a brand new Vette owner having just purchased a 1970 Corvette Stingray Coupe. The windsheld wipers and turn signals don't work.

Are they straight forward to fix? Could I do it or do I need to bring it in to a repair shop?

Thanks

Scott

Congratulations on Your new vette. You have come to the right website. I can't say why Your wipers or turn signals don't work. But I can tell You that if You want to drive a C3 I recomend fixing things Yourself. Costs can add up quick on these cars. You will find help from some of the members, one that seems to have great electrical experience is Roger. He will probably chime in and give You good diagnostic tips if He cathes this thread. Welcome to the Forum, and don't forget to post pics of Your car. Everyone loves pics.

Welcome!

This forum is the place to get information. I dare say there is no facet of Corvette repair that SOMEONE on here can't fix. Enjoy the ride, repairs WILL be required from time to time but if you make the needed fix your car will become more reliable over time.

I'd start by checking the fuses. Gotta start somewhere!

I would recommend putting this under the C3 Tech forum instead of general. There is some really smart guys that monitor that part of the forum to help with questions just like this. Grats on the vette, I too just bought my first. A Silver 78.

Hi Scott,
70 Coupe!!!! Nice!
If I may, I'll suggest 2 books that you may want to buy. They may help you determine whether you want to tackle some jobs on your car or to have someone else work on it. I'm speaking about your 2 questions now and also things that may come up in the future. They are both available from many of the larger Corvette parts vendors.
First, the GM CHASSIS SERVICE MANUAL for 1971, it was used at the dealerships.
Second, the AIM (ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTION MANUAL) for 1970, it was used on the production line in St. Louis.
They're enough information to keep you reading for a year!
And now PICTURES!!!!!!
Regards,
Alan

As far as the turn signals go I'd check several things - the fuse, the flasher, the bulbs and then the grounds. If these do not correct your problem - it could be the harness that travels thru the column.

Welcome to the best Corvette forum out there and good luck with your car.

John
