Automatic shifter ball question

Default Automatic shifter ball question
My 76 Corvette does not have the origonal shifter ball. Its an automatic. I want to replace the shifter ball thats on it now because it is hard to press the top button down. If I order a new shifter ball and spring what do I need to do to put this back on. Does the ball just unscrew and the ball and spring come off and just put the new one back on. Or is there something special that has to be done to change it back?

Just unscrew and swap, there is a spring under the push button and thats it...

I don't know about your aftermarket shifter ball, but on the original you have to unscrew the button, then unscrew the ball.

Really, on my 76 i just unscrewed the bass and the button came off! No way to unscrew it first...

Yep. Be ready to catch the spring when you unscrew the thumb button.

I actually meant the Ball! Im a bass player, must of had a brain fart when i typed that!

mine was all stuck together. a few choice words and some vice grips got it apart. Of course, everything was pretty well messed up by then...
