GM Shipping Record Breakthrough
"With permission granted by the General Motors Heritage Center, the National Corvette Restorers Society is pleased to announce that it can now offer solely to its members, certain information contained in 1962-1972 (with some limited 1973-1974 data) Corvette Month Car Shipped Reports. The ordering information will be available at our new Documentation Services website at www.NCRS.org/services.html. The new website will be activated on October 1st to accept orders.
The first service is the CORVETTE SHIPPING DATA REPORT. The information consists of the dealer code, dealer name and the date the car was produced. The good news is this should allow you to find the original dealer where your Corvette was sold and possibly open the door to finding more information about your Corvette. A letter containing the information you request will be mailed to your NCRS address on record.
The second service is the CORVETTE DOCUMENT VALIDATION. NCRS will compare any of your GM documents to the GM records contained in the Shipping Report and if verification can be achieved, will establish the authenticity of your factory documents. Unfortunately, the shipping report does not contain the vehicle options. A letter containing the information you request will be mailed to your NCRS address on record.
Information is available for 1962 to 1972 with some limited information to 1974. Only requests made by an NCRS member in good standing will be honored. The cost for either report is $40, to reimburse NCRS for time incurred to research the request against the GM records and provide appropriate response. Some records may not be obtainable due to damaged/missing files or physical condition of your documents. Further information may not be retrievable from a Chevrolet Dealer, e.g. failure to archive records or termination of the Dealership."
Early Shark (Warren) - are these the docs or part of the docs you've referenced in the past?

KUDOS.........NCRS !!!

I'd really like to know what HP my BB was originally, and to verify all of the options that are on it now.
It's a good start, but more detailed info is needed.

Stan Falenski
I have a copy of the dealer invoice for my '80, so I have the dealer information. From what I have been able to determine, my '68 has spent its whole life within the county. In the spring of '68 when the car was delivered, there were only two Chevrolet dealerships. She went to one or the other. Do I want to pay $40 to know which of the two? Not today. Maybe some day.

Dan,
This is not the exact document I've been referring to.

The car shiipper information might prove to be helpful, but it is not the Holy Grail or the pot at the end of the rainbow.
A German fellow claims that he ordered the shipping invoice from the GM heritage center and it had all options listed with it ( like the tank sticker ) , this for his 77 C3.
If the NCRS holds the shipping invoices in hands for the 63 to 72 , why doesn't it contain this options info as well ?
Or is this a money making idea, ask 60 $ to become member to be able to pay an other 40 $ for the dealer info and may be later on sell ea option at a time as well.
Some strange info coming from different people/sides here .
RGds. Günther
Edit: Why is NCRS only sending a letter with the dealer info rather than a copy of the shipping invoice ?

Should sort out some of the bogus tank or window stickers.
