Your carpet should have a built in pad over that area and the carpet go's over the dimmer switch.

it's under the metal peddle located right under the fuse panel. i just did my front carpet today and mine had a rubber place on the carpet that went over it. the dimmer switch is under the metal foot padd and has 3 wires going to it, or atleast my 71 did. u got some pics of your rear carpet? i want to see how you meet the rear fender wheel wells and the bulk heads. thanks

Thanks for the pics. looks like u tucked the fender well carpet under the bulkhead and then rolled the bulkhead carpet over the bulkhead. i'll try that tomorrow. did you have a hard time getting the side molding to go back enough to cover up the door opening. i installed hushmat and megabond silencer and i am not sure i can get it far enough back to cover. is their a piece that goes on the outside of the rear door opening? i may be missing piece. yours looks good. did you do anything to get the fender wells to lay down? mine are wrinkled . on your rear compartment doors, did you just cut the carpet even with the opening and cover it with the door frame?

i had a hard time getting the rear seat belt to line up with the dial pin. with all the sound deadener and carpet. i also used the soldering iron trick on all my holes. worked great. did you put down reflective under your carpet?

Everything will fit you just have to get the carpet into the recesses

did the rear fender wheel carpet tuck under the bulkhead? i cain't tell by the pics. you did a good job on your carpet. that reflective material is a heat barrier which will workk good under the floor boards and firewalls. might have used some type of sound deadener on the rear deck, or vibration canceller like dynomat or hushmatt for the rear. i used hushmat vibration canceller and megabond sound silencer on top of it. i hope i can tell a difference. i have over 1000 bucks in this stuff. i have reflective under my camaro floor boards and it works on the heat well.
