Default 71 Rear Compartment?

I have pulled my rear compartment frame and doors for a little spruce up on my 71. Are the strikers for the doors suppose to be painted or should they be left bare metal. Mine have overspray on them so I am not sure and any help would be appreciated.

If you want to paint them to keep them from rusting, use an 'aluminum' color spray paint. Just let them cure for a couple days (at least) so they can take the open/close action without chipping.

Great idea... I am going to hit them with the wire brush on my Dremel tool first and see how they come out.
