Looking for a hand vacuum pump
I need to do some troubleshooting on my '70 Coupe, and am looking for a hand vacuum pump. What has worked for you guys, and where did you get it?

You can get the Mighty Vac at Harbor Freight for $39 or an identical one sold by MAD VET for $29

thanks guys. I know I could find one to borrow, but procrastination is one of my finer points, and I'd be afraid of tardiness in getting it back. I'll get one from one of the above sources, and then I can take my time and go slow. thanks again

The hand pump will work to check an individual line [to see if it has a break in it] or an individual component [to see if it leaks]. But, you can't use it to check out the entire system because it has so little volume that is pumped (out) with each squeeze. With even 'normal' leakage in the system, you could pump forever and never make a dent in the change in vacuum level. Just thought you should know before you buy.

There are metal and plastic Mighty-vacs. If you plan to keep it and do much brake work, I suggest stepping up to the metal one. It is a neat tool.

Buy yourself 8 ft of vacuum hose and a tee and park a running car beside it, best vacuum available.

Shop Vac, or wifes vac if you're brave, and a lot of duct tape...
Bubba does it again...

they are also a quick and clean way to siphon small amounts of fluids.
