Hi guys! I bought a 1969 Camaro RS/SS 427 convertible about a month ago, and wondering what the best after market carb is for the car. It is not a #'s matching car, so I'm not worried about originality.
It idles fine, but doesn't have the power a big block should. It kind of stumbles when you get on it, and the gas mileage sucks...less than 3 MPG right now.
The carb is a 750 CFM according to the paperwork I have.
Nice looking car. Are you sure the fuel pump is good and the lines aren't clogged or the sock stopped up? I had a 71 Eldorado once. Idled great, putted around the yard fine, but when you got out on the road it fell on it's face. Turns out there was a restriction in the fuel sender line that it couldn't get enough fuel. I would make sure it is getting fuel. Past that, I don't know much about Edelbrock carbs. Perhaps someone will chime in with an adjustment proceedure. If that doesn't work and it was me, I would go with a Holley 750.
