Default Plastic Rivets??

I just had my 69 distributor cover rechromed and want to attach the original plastic piece under the top cover but it was originally attached with plastic rivets. Anyone know where I can find these?

Try Paragon for the rivets.

Paying a bunch for 'original' looking plastic rivets just sits wrong with me. I admire someone who would go to the trouble of doing it for himself...but selling them? ...or buying them?

Get some 2-part (clear) epoxy in tubes. Clean the cover well on the inside and out. Put some clear tape over the holes on the bottom side of the cover. Turn cover rightside up. Mix some epoxy, then, using a stick or other implement, allow some of the epoxy to dribble onto the center of one [rivet] hole until it forms the correct size of "head" (it will form a rounded bead-like top). Do same for all four holes. Allow to harden fully. Now put some blue painter's tape (easily removable without leaving tape residue) over those newly formed "heads".

Turn cover over, remove the 'clear' tape, wipe off areas with a volatile cleaner, place plastic insulator in place, now repeat the "head-forming" process on the bottom side. Let cure. Voila'.

It may take a bit longer, but the fix is essentially free.

Hi Mike,
Does Paragon have them? I don't see them in the catalog I picked up at Carlisle. I see the aluminium and hollow but not the nylon/plastic.
Regards,
Alan

i have an excellent shop in CA that has done all my chrome. They do pebble beach cars and are reasonable (at least I think so). Fantastic show quality. let me know if you are interested in their info.

From paragon I could only find replacement rivets for the horn (11981K).
I did find a lot of company's that make rivets-what size are the shielding rivets?

Hi Pete,
The size information is in the thread that avner posted.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...ic-rivets.html
You'll see the material, size of the head, shape of the dome, and length of the shaft, are all important if this is going to be something besides another 'close' reproduction.
Regards,
Alan

Hi Alan,
Found some at CC # 473013
Not NCRS but better than having two missing.
Thanks, Pete.

Hi Pete,
That's a pretty nice deal since it includes the liner too!

Alan
