Default Quick brake rebuild question

If i purchase an O-ring rebuild kit, do i have to change the pistons?

placing an order with summit and they sell the rebuild kit without any pistons, do i need different pistons?

thanks

Eoin

YES! The groove in the piston is different. And if you install o-rings the calipers MUST be sleeved. Without the sleeves, the ID of the bore is wrong for o-rings.

Been on to them twice already today, second time was because they gave me the wrong info the first time?

Was looking for heat shields for their patriot side exhaust (which turns out they don't stock) and they directed me to three of their products : none of which would fit. They confirmed this the second time round.

Better to be safe than sorry while dealing with brakes!

The o-ring changeover kit comes with new pistons. The new seals will not fit your old pistons. If the caliper has not been sleeved you are better off buying a rebuilt sleeved unit with o-rings in them. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Nothing against Summit ... I've ordered many times from them. But they are a very large organization that does not specialize in Corvettes, so I wouldn't expect them to field any specific questions. For this stuff in particular I'd get the full o-ring kit from VB&P.

$160 and I can tell you firsthand, the quality of this kit is top notch, and these guys know C3s.
