Default Documentation

I have a 71 LT1 that the block stamp and all other stamping seem to be correct but I have people asking me for official documentation. I have the same issue on my 64 365HP coupe. Is there some way to get the necessary paperwork to satisfy these people? Thanks for the help.

Start with the folks you purchased the cars from and see if they have any original documentation for the cars. They may, in turn, have information on who they bought the cars from.

You can try title seaches through the DMVs of the states the cars have been titled in.

It is possible your C3 has a copy of the build order (tank sticker) glued to the top of the fuel tank. Your 64 will not have a tank sticker.

You can join the NCRS, advertise your VINs in The Driveline, and see if any of the NCRS membership might have documentation for your cars. You could also submit your VINs for the Corvette Delivery Data Information they are currently advertising. You may be able to determine the name, address, and dealer code for the original dealer. Knowing where the car went when it was new might assist with tracking its history.
http://www.ncrs.org/

You can also post in the C3 and C2 sections here for possible information.

Good luck.

Hi Dax,
If the original documentation for your car is gone, it's gone.
You could have someone inspect your car and sign-off on what he finds. Then, depending on his credentials, you might well have something in writing that would get people's attention.
There are REPUTABLE people who do this.
Regards,
Alan

PS: I'm not talking about an appraisal.

Why are other people asking for documentation on your car, unless you're selling it? Tell them to get stuffed.

He's trying to find out the value of his '71 LT1 to either sell or trade. I think it's best to try to document/prove that it's a real LT1 to be prepared when the buyers start questioning the originality.

Hi Dax,
Contact Chuck Berge. 703-754-1960 or 703-629-0206
He's in Virginia but has the credentials you'll need if there is a question as to just what your car is now, and what it was when it left St. Louis.
It will not be inexpensive but if there are serious questions about your car it's the way to get answers not just opinions.
Regards,
Alan
