Default installing windshield.

Im installing my windshield this weekend....All the websites I see say use a 1/4 seal, but for some reason I thought it was 3/8

anyone have any idea?

Not sure what websites you're looking at, but you should use a 3/8" seal.

I installed auto glass , professionally, back in the day when these cars were new.
Use urethane not butyl tape. It was urethane from the factory and the new urethanes are a breeze to use.
You can use a damming strip if you like. (It covers the goo that would otherwise squeeze out around the pillar area).

Some guys back in the day used butyl tape. If you are going to use butyl, use the 3/8 and make sure to do it in a very warm shop.

Are you sure it was urethane from the factory? I'm pretty sure my 81 was butyl when I removed it.
