Default Tranny Question........

I put a new crate motor in my 81, I also eliminated the computer. My question is: am I doing any damage to my tranny because I no longer have the "lock up" feature? Car has a TH-350C tranny with a lock up torque converter. The computer controlled the lock up, but now the computer is gone. TIA.

You are not doing any damage to the tranny. But, you will get a bit lower gas mileage when on the highway. The 'lockup' function is meant to improve transmission efficiency by locking the converter so it doesn't have the fluid coupling losses when cruising. It's a nice feature, but by no means is it 'necessary'.

You could always hook up a manual switch to lock up the converter when you're on the highway. If you forget about it, you'll know right away when you try to stop.
