I am replacing old worn out shocks with new Bilsteins and the rear upper mount bolts are different. The right one has only about a half in of threading on it and then it's smooth, it looks original. The left is threaded the entire length of the bolt. I took the right one to Autozone and NAPA and no go on getting a replacement from them. Which is the correct one and where do I get another?
The whole reason for replacing the left one is not a question of originality but more of safety and function. It is slightly bent already and doesn't even look like it is automotive quality. D@mn you Bubba.
For the fully-threaded shock mount, there should be a steel sleeve that fits inside the upper shock mount rubber before the shock is assembled to it. If you don't have that sleeve, the shock will flop around on that upper mount and wear the rubber out very quickly.
