its just depends on your setup.. for mine it was 425, not too bad knowing its custom for my car.. they build it custom for your application based on weight, engine specs and what you plan to do. they are awesome cant wait to crank this baby up and break in the cam hopefully all goes well! and again i highly recommend ptc great service

thanks for the info! i'm still not sure what i'm going to do about a cam and heads other than the fact it will be hydraulic roller and fairly mild as this will be my daily driver and i'm going to try to get halfway decent mileage out of it.

i would have done roller if i would have had the money, but i changed out everything but the bottom end i was in this for the search of about 400 horses or more. hopefully 330 or 340 at the wheels. what made you want to go roller?

much less friction and wear on the cam and lifter, no break in period for the cam and you can go with a more aggresive profile and still keep driveability. during the time i was running the fox bodied mustangs i really got to love a hydraulic roller cam.

yeah that break in procedure for flat tappets is crucial and scary haha there is always that chance you whipe out a lobe. my next build i will def include a roller when are you going to start with everything? and didnt i see a post you had some bad rust and thought about gettin rid of the ride?

i actually found a much nicer 78, the only damage being a slightly cracked front bumper cover, a crack over the right side wheel arch and the drivers side fender having come slightly unbonded from the cowl. i'm going to pull the motor from the one i just got to do the rebuild over the next few months, using the l48 out of the rust bucket as well as the brand new rotors, calipers, stainless hard lines and braided stainless lines, new suspension bushings as well. i'll be using the first one as a parts car, selling off the rest of it when i'm done with the new (to me) 78. funny, theyre both red on red with the mirrored glass tops with the first one being an l48 auto trans and the second one an l82 auto trans. they both have the 3:08 rear gears. after wiping a hydraulic flat tappet cam in a late 70's Z-28 motor i've become gun shy of the flat tappet cams. the extra money is worth it to me for the peace of mind i gain.
