Ignition shielding w/headers?
Hi All,
I want to put the verticle ig. sheilds on my car the way it should be. However, I'm running headers. If the shields are supposed to mount to the plug guards at the bottom will they be secure just attached at the top since I have no plug guards because of the headers?

Hi Jim,
There is a small bracket on each side of the engine that bolts to the rear flange of the block. One of them has a threaded hole for a wing-bolt to fasten the lower part of the shield. The other side is configured differently and doesn't have a place for the wing-bolt. I'll bet you could rig something up though.
Do you have those 2 brackets?

You can run them only attached from above. I have mine like that, been that way for years.

Hi Jim,
I have a picture of the bracket for the left side.
It's the part that looks like a 2 pronged fork. A rubber grommet with four holes in it slides into the fork and the wires pass through the holes.
You can JUST see the grommet, wing-bolt, and bolt to mount it to the block.
