Hi All,

Just took ownership of my first Vette this past June. It's an unmolested 81' 4 speed with 19,000 original miles...(pics in my gallery)

Standard maintenance has been done...some hoses replaced, battery etc....I just recently had the rear bearings done and replaced the rear spring with TRW composite along with new shocks.( what a diff in the ride .....WOW ! ) Also replaced water pump as it was starting to make some "growling" noises.

Wondering if this spring when she comes back out what I should be looking at for replacing / upgrading ? To date everything on the car works....except the radio sounds like **** cause the speakers are all dried up and brittle...But don't listen to it anyway....

Any feedback as to what I should be doing ?? Or do I just wait and deal with **** as it happens ?

I would prefer to be "proactive" vs "reactive" !!

Thanks !

Nice find with the low miles, congrats. My 81 still only has 21,000 miles on it. Only thing that comes to mind about maintenance is the brake calipers. Brake caliper leakage from piston bore corrosion is common, so if it doesn't already have stainless steel sleeve brakes, it will need them. I replaced the old 8 track with Zip's Retrosound radio and speakers.

Come spring, drive the car for a while; it will tell you what it needs.

Unfortunately, for some folks the definition of "proactive" means spending money you may not need to spend.
