I am changing the emblem on my 72. Any advice, tricks or secrets getting to the speed nuts? It seems like my fat arms are going to have some trouble!! Thanks for any advice.

You'll be surprised at the room you have once you get under the car.

Shoot/squirt a little penetrant on the nuts before you try to twist them off. Also apply removal torque slowly, so the pins don't break off. When you reassemble, tighten only enough so that the emblem doesn't 'wiggle'.

Oh, you can remove one of the front grille sections to gain better access (center is easy...if the screws aren't rusted).

the speed nuts shouldn't be the problem as the badge is mostly pot metal. the problem may arise if the badge was applied with trim tape in addition to the speed nuts (like many were particularly from the mid70's on). if you remove the speed nuts and the badge doesn't just lift off, you will need to work some heavy duty thread or some dental floss under the badge to "cut" the tape from the body. it is particularly helpful if you can leave the car out in the bright sun to heat it up, or use a blowdryer to accomplish the same results. the softer you might be able to get the old adhesive, the easier it will make the job.

I took a look under today and I can actually see the nuts quite clearly. I thought it would be difficult to get in there but I think I can do it pretty easily. The emblem isn't stuck down with anything because the nuts are a little loose and it wiggles already. I found a real nice NOS emblem just have to get it on now. Thanks for the help!
