Default Performance engine rebuilt DVD recommendations?

I have a 350 that I am planning on rebuilding to 350-400 hp. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendation on a technical video that explains how to build a performance engines. I already have “Basic Engine Building” DVD from box wrench which is a good video but it doesn’t go into detail about engine performance. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks

skip the dvd and buy a book, sbc performance basics is a great book, basically in book in borders will be a great sucess.

making 350hp with a 350cid is CAKE now a days, most rebuilds with a mild cam will net 350hp. 400hp out of a 350cid is going to take heads, cam and proper carb.

I agree with getting a book rather than a DVD but then I'm old school and like to be able to mark pages with stickies, flip back and forth to simultaneously read more than one page, etc. Plus, it can be carried to the garage or shop to be used as a reference without a computer or DVD player.

these are books i still use today in building engines, i have read each one probably 100 times but each time i assemble a motor I always read something or go to a page for reference.

Power secrets by smokey yunic

chevy performance by john michelsen

how to build horsepower by david vizard.

every motor ever made uses the same principles to make power, more air, more fuel, more compression. Its harnessing the balance that makes the true power.

Good luck on your build!! If I could give a opinion on your first build, watch out for the 3 To's

TO MUCH CARB(average 350 will never need over a 750cfm)
TO MUCH CAM(WATCH durations and operating speeds your cruiser does not need a cam that "comes in" at 3500)
TO MUCH TIMING(throwing all the timing in the world will not help you if your cam, and carb are way wrong for your application)

I agree, book's are best to have right there when doing the work. S-A Design publishing has some good one's, such as Chevy small block building and engine blue printing manual's. You wont be sorry you bought these.

They say a picture worth a thousand words. I personally prefer watching a how-to video on reading a book.
