OK, Mike, I'll bite. How could limited lingo knowledge translate to "500 automatic and 500 manual crossfires in 1977"??
It's not like he's calling a T Top a convertible.
I guess it's similar to the never ending 'please tell me my car is 1 of 1 rare' postings we see or the 'my uncle had one with a metal body'. Everybody wants to hear that their car is different and exclusive and therefore better and worth more. The guy just grabbed on to the first piece of BS he heard, like the 'only BBs are Stingrays' story and convinced himself it's true.
I'd be half tempted to write the seller and say that the car is worth less than regualr models since GM does not support spare parts for the '77 crossfire model, and if it breaks down you're farqued.
Kinda reminds me of this '96 "Grand Sport". They only made 810 coupes so I should probably grab it before someone else does. It's been popping up on craiglist for about 5 months now.

I've lost count of the number of LT4 owners calling their car a GS. This one didn't get the hp number right either. The LT4 is rated at 330hp not the 350 he has described.
I know the ad is way off base, but maybe this misinformed chap has a non-stock Corvette, which has either a Z-28 Camaro "cross ram" dual quad manifold, in which case the manifold alone is worth almost the asking price of the car, or the car has one of the Edelbrock "Smokey Ram" clones of the Z-28 manifold...or the guy is simply smoking crack!!

if you look closely at the ad there is a single foam air cleaner on top of the engine - this guy likely has absolutely nothing special at all except high performance valve covers
I was gonna give him the benefit of the doubt and say that someone did a CFI engine swap with computer and all. At least the claim would kind of be backed up there. With one carburetor, what's this guy's reasoning for making such an outlandish claim?
lots of corvette owners know nothing about there cars. Only what they are told. It is the same with other marques. Fortunately in this case, you guys know everthing
Or tell him that he couldnt possibly have a crossfire edition 77 because the crossfire edition had a bench seat and the ultra rare belt drive
Don't forget the special L-13 package that came with the '77 Crossfires. It was a Tennessee-only Chevy dealer add-on package that upgraded to teflon muffler bearings, and special high performance battery pistons.
