Default 1977 "Crossfire Edition" ?

What's the deal with this? I never heard of a "Crossfire Edition" other than the 1982 & 1984 models. What makes it special? What engine does it have?

I am selling my 1977 Corvette Crossfire edition. There were only 500 automatics and 500 manual crossfires made in 1977. This car comes with T-tops, power steering, a great soundsytem with sub and amp, a bull dog security system designed to sense motion and vibration if someone is trying to reach in through the T-tops, it comes with two remotes. the paint is in good shape with a few small nicks in places on the car. I will take 12,000 OBO, I have already had a few offers but I 'm seeing what I can get for it. It is a great car and has great torque and horsepower.

No such thing that I'm aware of. Looks like an L48 to me.

It is an early '77 as it has the alarm on the fender and aluminum horn button.

He's a liar. Email/call him and ask him to explain his stats on the production and ask why no other human being on Earth knows what he's talking about.

Ask if you'd need to bring your waders and a shovel.

Or tell him that he couldnt possibly have a crossfire edition 77 because the crossfire edition had a bench seat and the ultra rare belt drive

Hi BR1,
Be Careful!
Everyone so far is downing this fellow so they'll have a chance to snap up this very rare "one of none" car out from under you!
Regards,
Alan

The only way I'd believe him is if his legal name was Marty McFly or Doc Brown. Oh and I still wouldn't buy it then because I'd want the DMC-12. Really what is this guy thinking, I love my 82, but I doubt beyond making some uninformed buyer thinking they're getting something rare I doubt anyone would think any extra of this especially since it wouldn't be numbers matching.

Well atleast he didn't turn it into a ratrod. Although that'd be more rare considering the 77 Vette/36 Dodge rat rod was the only one made and it took 41 years to make. Apparently it was part of a deal when GM bought that Buick motor back from AMC, Chrysler bought AMC, and GM also bought what was already made of the 36 Dodge.

It's fun to ridicule, but not everybody is up on Corvette lingo. I knew a guy who owned his car from new who believed that only big blocks came with Stingray logos, so my SB was therefore a fake.

Or some likes to dream that their car is special. In ex the L82 badges glued to the fenders of my car when I first got it.

If you blow up the picture with the hood open on the left.. you'll notice it has the old Fly eye air cleaner on it too.. Wonder how well that works with the crossfire...

OK, Mike, I'll bite. How could limited lingo knowledge translate to "500 automatic and 500 manual crossfires in 1977"??

It's not like he's calling a T Top a convertible.

There were only two engine options in 77, an L48 base and optional L82.
Crossfire engines ( twin computer controlled carb's) were not introduced until 82.

Computer controlled throttle bodies, not carbs. 82's are fuel injected.
