I'm doing some research on build sheets for the 1981 year and looking for examples of St Louis built Corvettes and their build sheets. If you can help...drop me a note and thanks.

Surely we must have a few forum members with St Louis built Corvettes.

I have an '81 VIN - 1G1AY8769BS403948 from the St. Louis plant but do not have the build sheet. She is still all stock with all ECM and emission parts on and operational. If can help further let me know.

I have a St. Louis made L81 as well, but haven't tried to look for the build sheet yet.

This would be the most helpful site I can think of for you, unless it's your site, and then, well..... you'd already know that:

Thanks all and Jclgodale

What I'm looking for is whether the VIN is typed or printed in the right hand corner. On Bowling Green sheets, the VIN is pre-assigned and printed on the build sheet. The practice at the St Louis plant was to assign the VIN at the trim tag station, positioned between the two paint booths. This is a production and data processing change that changed in the transition from St L to BG. Build sheets provide the documentation.

I clipped the corner of my 78 build sheet and it shows the "typed" VIN versus the 1Z87L8S portion of the VIN pre-printed above it.

Charlie...thx for the tip. Irish joker had posted his, a St Louis built 81 and shows the VIN is "typed" versus BG built cars with the VIN pre-printed.
