amp and sub woofer
I am thinking about adding an amp and sub woofer in the back of my car. Do I need to buy a new radio or do they make jacks for the sub woofer to connect to an older radio? Does the amp have to hook up to the radio or just to the speakers? I would like to run the amp to the sub woofer and speakers but really don't want to buy a new radio unless I have to. I have a kenwood corvette radio in my car now (cassette) obviously not original but it only has speaker wires and power wires coming out the back. a couple of other wires but not sure what they are for, they are not connected to anything.

You maybe want to post this in the electronic's/stereo section for more expertise, but the answer is no. You'll be fine with the existing radio, as line level adapter's from the speaker wire's are a very common thing. Some amp's will even accept speaker wire input's directly, so no adapter is even needed.
