I recently purchased an all original 1968 Black Coupe with 427/435 L71 and Gun Metal interior. It also has a M 21 4 speed and 3.36 rear. I want to find out how many others with these options were made. Does anyone know of a website or contact?
I don't know that the information you are looking for is available for our cars. I know many people take figures associated with certain options and factor that into the number of cars produced to extrapolate a number but, I am not sure how accurate that number is.
I would have to guess that your best bet would be to contact someone on the NCRS site. Let's see some pictures of that bad boy; I have a black / saddle '69 but, I love the black / gunmetal combination.
The information you seek is not available. GM did not keep exact production records for the C3s and does not have information concerning options and color combinations for specific cars. At the least, you can be certain you have one of 9936 '68 coupes assembled.
You can use the figures published in The Corvette Black Book and similar sources to extropolate a figure as to how many black coupes with gun metal and four speed were produced, but this will only give you a guesstimate.
Gun Metal is somewhat rare and (in my opinion) looks good with black.
Many Thanks for the info. I knew there were only 708 Tuxedo black ones but did not know how many of those had the gunmetal interior. It has 50,100 miles which are supposely correct. I keep trying to upload photos but keep getting the message that the upload failed. Any ideas?
Hi B,
I believe you need to upload your pictures from your computer to a host site like phtobucket.
You can then copy the 'img' code for the picture or pictures into the body of your post. You'll see the img code but when you try 'preview' or 'submit' the pictures appear in the post.
It's very easy once you try it a few times.
Regards,
Alan
