Looking at this 71 C3 and here are the birdcage mounts. Is this normal, bad, good? Looks like a little pitting, but nothing serious, IMHO. What say you?
VERY good! For a unrestored 71, you won't find much better.
If you buy it, use a rust inhibiter to keep it the way is is.
How's the frame and other rust area prone areas?
Glenn

That hardly qualifies as rust. It looks real good. Just make sure you look at the rear kickups which are in front of the rear wheels where the body mount is and the frame goes up and over the wheels. That is an area of concern.
Hi,
I agree that they look VERY good.
If the rest of the mounts and the birdcage are in as good a condition, ( and I hope they are!), this car will help prove that not ALL Corvettes have some rust.

Alan

Not to hijack this thread, however I am going to start the recondition of my 72 soon and luckily my birdcage mounts are in similar shape but I want to ensure I keep that that way. I was thinking of brushing the lower part with POR 15. Or should I just clean up with a dremel/wire brush and coat with naval jelly and clean and then just spray on something like RustOleum?
