Mike and I just started the '69 last week for the first time in 2 yrs.
I then spent 2 days bleeding brakes on the completely fresh manual system and thyen took the maiden voyage.
Still lots to do - vacuum accessories, 4 wheel alignment, exhaust tie -in to headers.............ect
Engine/Tranny/Drivetrain:
360ci that made 440hp/450tq
GM L-88 15 lb flywheel w/ Hays 10.5 Comp clutch
TKO 600 2.87 1st w/ .82 OD
3:73 posi
255/60x15 rears
All I can say is WOW..........thanks to all the guys who encouraged me to go with the light flywheel setup. Amazing throttle response......crisp and precise. Clutch is on or off with a very firm pedal.........but thats ok its a freckin hot rod.
Thanks to Mike Dyer for his help and friendship in getting this project moved along. Mike, we have some tuning to do
Hi,
I think it looks terrific too!
Silver REALLY shows off the lines. I think it's something to do with the soft shadows that show the shape of the panels on silver cars.
I think the 'stripe' at the rear of the hood is the spot for the wiper well grill to be installed?!
More Pictures!!!
Regards,
Alan
skiff of snow here too in Richmond, Va. area last night and Tuesday 3-5" depending on whose forecast you believe/disbelieve. Coldest December on record here since records back to 1885. Car spent the month in the garage.

absolutly beautiful!!! love the L-88 hood.... congrats on the back in the road!!! I think that the 69 Cortez Silver is the most beautiful colors ,well after red for me...
We restored a 69 400hp convert identical to your car and i have missed it since it was finished and after 15years of having that one ,it still one of the favorites.... I let my wife look at a 69 color chart and low and behold she chose you guessed it to go on her 69 GP ...... much better than the aqua blue...

I have to agree with that color choice!
I am sure people on this forum are getting sick of seeing me post the same photo of my 69, but I sure like the way it looks and when I get a chance these days, I drive the s#!$ out of it! Though tomorrow I am tearing into the interior.
But that is a nice looking car!
Are those dyno numbers (440hp/450tq) at the flywheel or at the wheel? Either way you got me beat as I took the easy way out and dumped a FB385 crate motor in mine that after the first time I drove it, I was already jonesing for more HP!
