Default Transform regular to Sidepipe What exact do I need ?

Hi,

I have a 69' and want to mount original Sidepipes .

Here is what I have (when it arrives )

- Covers

- Sidepipes

- Side Exhaust Shield Rear Brace Kit
https://www.paragoncorvette.com/p-35...brace-kit.aspx

- Side Exhaust Muffler Attaching Kit
https://www.paragoncorvette.com/p-35...ching-kit.aspx

I have the original exaustheaders, but with holes for the AirEquipment- How can I close the holes without welding ?

Do I forgot something ?

Do you have some advice/tips to be carefull with ... or look for ....

( The rear panel is currently not an issue )

Thanks a lot in advance for your help

Frank

Do you plan to remove the center exhaust hanger, that's attached to the trans mount? If so, you should buy the spacer that replacese the hanger. They run about $8.00.

You can use treaded pipe plugs or bolts to plug the A.I.R. tube holes, though I can't recalll the thread size at the moment. Many people have just cut the pipes off and squeezed the remaining tube closed. Plugging them looks better, and is less likely to leak. Why do you need to remove the A.I.R. tubes, they shouldn't effect the side exhaust any, or are you just eliminating the emission system?

Hi Frank,
There needs to be a slight modification to the fiberglass on the front fenders where the pipes comes straight out to each side, just before they turn to the rear. It's a half-moon shaped piece that's just a little larger in size than the perimeter of the top half of the pipe.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Currently no plan to remove the exhaust hanger if this is not necassary, but thanks fot the tip

The A.I.R system is complete missing and I just want to close the holes, so maybe later the AIR-system can be recovered

Hi Frank.
Go to the Willcox site and look at the 69 Side Exhaust Installation Guide.
Lot's of good information.
I don't think you need to remove as much fiberglass as the drawing shows. But, as you start to test fit the pipes and covers you'll be able to see where the interference is and how much needs to be cut.
Good Luck!

Alan

My sidepipe conversion was pure easy. Remove the old, attach the covers, connect the pipes and hangers. No fiberglass involved.
I did pull the hanger and change the rear panel. And OK, removing the old required some beer consumption to stay limber for the beating, pulling, and swearing.
Save everything you remove, I sold all the old to offset the crazy cost of the new. Worth every penny.
