I only use them when I put the car up on the 4 post lift. I use the heavy rubber ones that Nothern Tool and Equipment sells.

cheapest place i found for chocks are from harbor frieght. they range from $8 to 15. Make sure you get there 20% off single item coupon first. they are usally in the paper.
