Do they make you feel more secure about parking your vette on an incline? This was not tragic; I put the 4spd in gear + parking brake and then I put the chocks behind the rear wheels just for extra "security" but when I started the car it just backed right over this one and flattened it.
I use a heavy rubber one...for semi trucks. I always use it no matter what... when parked in my driveway, which is on a 30 degree incline. I would rather be safe than sorry...just because I was either to lazy or stupid and/or both!
The one you have (had) doesn't look to be much....step up, and buy a better one.

I have a set of chocks hanging on a nail in my garage. I use them everytime I put one of my vehicles on ramps. They go under the rear wheels and the parking brake goes one.
Seeing this thread will make me go out and buy one for my vette.
I could never get my parking brake shoes back on without taking the hub apart so that hasn't worked yet.
Living in IL it was flat everywhere so I just left it in gear and had only a few times I wished i had a parking brake to feel safer.
But moving to PA I'll be getting some next time i drive the vette as i'd hate to see it in a accident while i'm in the store...
I guess a picture is worth a thousand words. Those photos reinforces why I use chocks when the car is up on a jack.

I now use solid rubber ribbed wheel chocks, even when my car is on the lift. It doesn't take muchof an incline for these cars to roll.
BTW, I had my parking brake rebuilt after this incident. Fortunately there were only minor scratches on my true dual exhaust pipes and the frame just behind the front wheels. I learned my lesson about chocks the hard way. It could have been worse. Chocks are cheap insurance.
