Thanks Ron, when it's off the jackstands I'll get some more! Love the stance and the white with the rims combo Riggs!

Thanks. Would you believe that the paint job is 20 years old. 9 coats of Lacquer and 3 coats of clear.

OK, I'll try with red (medium red metallic, code 974) on red (oxblood/dark red, code 425).

Here's mine. Have the interior out of it right now, Cleaned, re-dyeing, and new carpeting going in.

@ outlawkinser - I wish I'd had mine since '77. I agree it looks even better now. I'm curious why you took the sidepipes off as I'm considering adding them to mine. Beautiful car!

@ Paul 74 - Thanks again for the warm welcome when I first got my car in December. Your car is awesome and I always enjoy looking at photos of it.

@ jam23059 - My car is a 4 speed and it was originally brown too - with the same interior. Your's look great.

Ron: I was 37 years old in 1977 when I bought the '74. I installed and ran the side exhaust from 1978 to 1985. In '85 I installed headers and a new under car exhaust system. I ran that until 1992 when I decided to reinstall the side exhaust again. I ran that until 1996 when just before putting it in storage for the winter one of the interior baffles on the drivers side rusted out and was "clunking around". The following summer I installed the system that is listed in my signature. Just recently I checked on pricing for new sidepipes and then remembered the reasons I took them off in 1985; too noisy, can't hear the radio and can't carry on a conversation with my wife while driving. I'm going to be 71 this Fall and have decided to leave things alone.

Thanks for the info about the sidepipes. I have Magnaflows and I really love the sound - just loud enough. I love the way the sidepipes look, but I have concerns about them. One is what you mentioned about the sound being right next to you. The other is - I have a Factory Five AC Cobra spec racer (kit car) which is an open car. Every time I drive it, when I wipe my face afterwards, black comes off on my hands and I smell like fumes. I would be disappointed if I put sidepipes on the 74 and had the same issue with smelling and needing to bathe after driving.

good reading Outlaw and Racer, I needed just that type of first hand info(things you might not necessarily think about / know about unless you have done it)...as I need an exhaust for my 74 convertible...I was considering sidepipes, and I think for how I would like to drive the car, they might not be the most personally enjoyable in the longer term

@ robie WI - What a beautiful color.

@ T Rush - I think fumes can be an issue. I've read other threads about side exhaust, and that has been mentioned. It's the only reason I haven't pulled the trigger on the beautiful stainless steel sidepipes a forum vendor has now.

It's your alarm activation key hole. Got mine shaved off as the previous owner removed all the other components that go with it

Ron,
Thanks for the kind words. She really is a 10 footer. Been debating going back to the original white and keeping the oxblood interior or going completely radical and keeping the candy apple red and doing a black interior.

Amfix, Great looking car. Are those round head lights under the clear covers?
I really like the look of the fixed head lights on your car.

Great thread guys, there are a lot of nice 74's here.

Riggs.
