Default High Heat Paint question

I just received a exhaust manifold from a man, and he had painted it with Dupi-Color 500 degree motor paint,

500 degree paint will not hold up on an exhaust manifold will it?

I thought you needed 1,200 degree paint at least

Thanks
David

Default where to buy manifold paint

I am looking for help in finding a dark gey colored 1,200 degree or higher exhaust manifold paint.

I have purchased both a VHT product and Eastwoods FActory Grey

Both are more of a light grey or almost a silver look.

Any suggestions

I just want a simple spray , I have already used teh brush on materials

Thanks David

Hi David,
I just saw your pm too.
I agree that you need 1200 degree on the manifolds.
I used Cast Blast 1200 on my manifolds. It is the darker gray, not ss.
It gives the manifolds too nice a look, but that's o.k. for me. It seems to be holding up well. I believe it'll be easy to touch up if needed.
Regards,
Alan

I have almost a full can I'll send you, if you can't fnid any.

Seymour "Cast Blast" cast iron color ceramic paint is good for 1900 deg, I believe. It also looks exactly like new cast iron once it has cured [by heat] on the manifolds. I've had it on my stock manifolds for 2 years, now, and it still looks like new. Great stuff. It is best to have the manifolds bead blasted, then use lacquer thinner to wipe them down [get rid of blasting dust] and shoot them with "Cast Blast" immediately. Clean cast iron will rust in no time at all.

Hi David,
The paint I have is similar what 7T1 uses.
It's 'Seymour Cast Blast 1200'. Cast Iron Gray # 16-069. I bought it from:
Braden Enterprises
2420 Old Bristol Road
Holland Pa. 18966
215-322-1098
I have an un-opened can that you're welcome to. It's a spray can ... I assume that's what we're talking about.
Regards,
Alan
