So I bought a purdy new parking brake console, color matched and all. Started installing it yesterday and the fit is way off. Seems it's too wide by quite a lot, it won't seat properly and the mounting screw holes are way off.
I do have to admit that when I started installing it I was very tired. I had been working on the interior all day, twisting, turning and contoring myself, and when the PB console wouldn't attach easily I got fed up and quit before I broke something.
Anyone else had fitment problems with aftermarket PB consoles and if so, how did you correct it? I DO NOT want to drill new holes. I bought the piece a while back and can't remember which vendor I used, but I think it's a Corvette America product...not sure.
YEP!! They are worthless, called reproduction manufacture (name on inside of console) and told them about the issue of fitting. Waste of time dealing with them. Funny....found a NOS GM e-brake console...fit perfect....
The reproduction piece I bought for my 73 fit good, but the holes were in the wrong location. I never could get the screw holes to line up, so I did have to drill new holes.
Its a black interior, so the holes are not too noticeable....at first.
Well, I'm an idiot. I must have been really tired not to notice that I forgot to remove the attaching bolt on the back of the piece that bolts to the bulkhead. Duh... I removed it and it fit - a pretty good fit in fact.
Sorry for pestering y'all with this and thanks for all the advice and information.
