Default Yep, I got Bubba-ed..

I'm checking out my newly acquired 77, finding out what works and what doesn't. One issue is the horn is inop, so I pulled the steering wheel to check the horn contacts...the two plates which should be insulated with plastic rivets are instead bolted together with screws and the pin that goes down to the turn signal switch is no place to be found...time to order some parts! I also found a few wires loose under the dash, including an unidentified ground wire. Thanks Bubba!

When I bought my 73 I had about a 2 and half hour drive to get it home.
About a half hour from home my horn started blowing all by itself.
People were staring at me like I was a nut case.
It turned out that Bubba had stuffed the horn contact with little pieces of foam rubber and they had worked their way loose during the trip.
That was the second issue (had headlight issues before that) in a long list of surprises that Bubba left hidden in every nook and cranny of my car.

Hi,
I believe Bubba does some of his BEST work on things electrical.
He likes the quick BRIGHT light, the smoke, and how you can't always tell what things will melt.
Regards,
Alan

I purchased my 76 for an ex. I told her she could pick any of her choice in a certain price range or pay less and we would make it 'hers' with the unused funds. Well she spent $3k on one that the seller claimed needs shocks and a little paint work. I got it home. The frame was completely rotted, the drivers side floor pan was pretty much missing and replaced with severeal sheet metal screwed peices of roof flashing, and when I took off the rear wheels and suspension there was bearings on the drivers side and none on the passengers. I was glad we payed so little. Now it has a new frame and all new suspension parts. Its in the middle of a complete frame off resto. WAY more than I wanted to spend, but in the end it will be done right, and mine.

Bubba the Electrician is probably the worst. Bubba the mechanic can be easier to remedy.

My crankshaft had 0.25" (1/4") of endplay, and several of the journals had burrs on them that were big enough to cut what looked like an oil groove in the bottom bearings. It looked like he probably carried it out of the junkyard by grabbing the journals with a couple of pairs of channel locks for handles.

Yea, Bubba is a real celebrity. Seems that "everyone" knows him/of him. I've run accross some of his best work over the years myself.

With all the inbreeding, Bubba's family is huge! There's almost nothing a Bubba somewhere hasn't touched.

Sometimes though Bubba lives in a regular non car car owner, my old 75 dash harness burned up, in the fuse box instead of a radio fuse were 2 quarters installed by the previous owner who I spoke to after the incident.
It was the fusible link that prevented the fire.

I wonder how many amps it would take to blow those quarters ???

But on the upside I got .50 cents to put toward the new harness !

Default A visit from Bubba.

My Dad purchased a 68 roadster from Bubba. One rear caliper was missing and brake line had been plugged at flex hose (along with a couple dozen other surprises). About a month after getting the car we found Bubba had stopped by and left the missing caliper on the back bumper of our work truck.

He had sold the vette to restore the rustiest Amphicar I have ever seen, must have been in saltwater no metal left below the water line. Can't imagine it ever floating again.

No one buying a "normal" used vehicle is completely "Bubba-free". Just hope those kind of problems are minor. Good luck with your 'new' C3.
