Default Restoration Progress

I spent the week at 2ndGenerationRestoration. I made some progress. Stan (owner) is allowing me to do all I can to help fend off the cost of the restoration. I can't thank him enough. Here's some before and after pictures. I need 2 more days to finish prepping the body for removal. I striped the car with Aircraft stripper. All the paint came off nicely. The primer was another story. I had to DA the primer off. The stripper would not remove it? Anyway Stan assisted and I made progress with the DA. I have read a lot about paint removal from corvettes. Some say never use a DA and others say if you have the right touch it's a great way to remove the paint. The whole job was not near as messy as some lead to believe. So if you are on the fence with this type of job, I say go for it. It does take time but taking your time will yield good results.

Hi TP,
It's always interesting to see progress pictures. Having Stan involved makes it double interesting!
Regards,
Alan

When Stan's finished with the paint you'll be able to shave in the reflection.

Also Stan is known for gapping. All body gaps are detailed. I believe this really makes the appearance of a car stand out from others. I can assure you that this project will have the same amount of attention given to the frame, suspension, drive train and interior. I will post more pictures as I move along. Probably in 2 or 3 weeks. I am focusing on separating the body from the frame, so I can bring the chassis home to start the restoration of it. The body will stay at Stans for minor body repairs, detailing and paint.
