There's a fair amount of pics in Dobbins books that are actually of service replacement items. The photos were not taken in 1973 when the cars were new.
Service replacement tips (like in the book) had part numbers, they are not rare.

My original 73 tips have no part numbers on them at all. I will see if I have a good picture of their postion to post so you can see them. One of my mufflers is not correct so it hangs down a bit and looks different but the tips fit the openings nicely.
parking lot is not level it's not a problem with the car

Correct - Many of the pictures in the Dobbins book are of cars that had original parts removed and/or replaced. These are not pictures of 1973's just after they rolled off the assembly line, so they are of limited value! As an example, look at how many of the engines are missing the smog system.
Thanks all. I have 72 tips on my car and looking to buy 73 tips.

Since you have '72 tips on your car I am assuming that a previous owner replaced the '73 mufflers with a set of '72 mufflers since they have greater availability (and better price) then the '73 mufflers. So to use the '73 tips you will need to get a set of '73 mufflers. The outlet pipe on the muffler is aligned differently to get it to the center of the exhaust tip (where '72 was offest to the outside of the exhaust tip).
This article over on the '73 Spot has a good shot of an original '73 from the side (second pic in article). This was the Corvette News intro of the new '73. http://www.73spot.com/article_files/cn1072.pdf

Those may or may not be original tips (can't see underneath), but those are not original mufflers unless somebody went to the trouble of removing all the factory blackout. Some service replacements also had the blackout treatment AFAIK.
